Bubble Dresses

I finally got my sewing room back!

Back from the holidays, back from remodeling two bedrooms! All the stuff that was moved into the sewing room has finally found a place in the garage or the Salvation Army donation site.
I am sewing again.

Over the weekend I made these two little bubble dresses for my nephews daughters.
They were really simple and I just love the pattern. The cat and flower fabric came from my stash. I was sew happy to find coordinating fabric and enough. Crossed fingers that they fit them and they can wear them together. Only had enough fabric for one purse - well how much make up does a one year old need?
This morning the sky was completely blue and I went for a 9.25 walk with my friend Carol to the Orange Circle via the Santiago Creek River Bed. By the time we returned, the sky clouded up and a few drops of rain spattered on the ground. I love walking in the rain and we really can use the moisture here, planning to hit Curves this afternoon. I love my days off. Hope you enjoy your day.

Curves Accomplishment

I have been going to Curves since 2010. I was really happy to see I hit 600 workouts!

If you have been trying to get into an exercise regiment. I would suggest Curves, it is very do able, great for strengthening and cardio and you can meet some great gals there too.

Today my guild buddies are coming over to collaborate on a table setting for our guild pot luck. The theme this year is "two colors" we have chosen "Black and White". Check back soon and I will have some photos of our table. The prize??? Just bragging rights. But I am always up for a fun challenge and  I have to say... we are going to win!

To Quilt

I know it has been a very long time since my last post. The holidays came into play, I had new floors installed on the stairs and upper level of the house - everything got moved into the sewing room and I have been trying to dig myself out. Finally I got sewing yesterday at a class from Lenore Crawford... Confetti Quilts.

This is suppose to be a hummingbird. It is not at all finished - just layed the million pieces of fabric confetti and covered with tulle. For a first try, I am satisfied and I think there is a huge area for improvement. I think once it gets stitched up completely there will be enough distinction so you will be able to see the bird separate from the background. I plan to thread paint a bit too. Fingers crossed!!

While at the class at Road to California I also got to meet up with Joe Cunningham. I love Joe and he is also one of the art quilter displaying at the Muzeo where I am a docent.

Here is one of Lenore Crawfords Confetti Quilts. Love the fall colors

Have a wonderful day!

California Quilt Artists

It has been an interesting week!

There is a great little museum locally called the Muzeo in Anaheim, California. I have just started to Docent there. The current exhibit is: American Quilts in the Modern Age 1870 to 1940. Not only does the museum display many beautiful examples of old quilts, there are also about 10 truly modern California quilt artists sharing the stage. I was very excited to be able to meet almost all the artists at the Opening Gala.

Terry Waldron (Anaheim), Sherry Kleinman (Pacific Palisades), Sheila Frampton-Cooper (Los Angeles but visiting from Paris), local artist Jamie Fingal (Orange), Linda Anderson (LaMesa), Lura Schwarz Smith and her husband Kerby Smith,  (both from Coarsegold)
Here is a photo of Shelia Frampton-Cooper and myself in front of her (right) "The Ray, the Roses, and the Portal" piece.

Jamie Fingal with her two works
Make a Wish on the Purple House and The Happy Dancer

This is the Smith family in front of Kerby's
"Endangered Species: Girl Reading"
note the girl reading is their daughter.
If you are in town and are interested in seeing the installation, let me know, I have a few tickets to share. If not you can Google Muzio and there are discount tickets available. I will be the Docent the day after Thanksgiving and January 12th.  Come and see me! Thanks for dropping by.

Fern Flower

This is Fern Flower a pattern by Sewing Under the Rainbow. It is available for free on Crafty. I am going to use this block in my "In The Garden Quilt". It is a 12" x 12" block and  I made it completely from scraps.

Here is a little advice I suggest you NOT take.....

Enjoy your sewing!

Rotary's In Bloom

A Quilters Garden Quilt

Here are the first two rows of A Quilters Garden.
The scale is off as I was trying to get both rows the largest I could on the page.

I have also done a block for my guilds Presidents Quilt.
This block had Y Seams. I think they turned out just fine.

Steve always wonders about this! @?^%$@$&*

Hope to do a lot more sewing this weekend.
Enjoy the day.
